Getting Creative!

So ive been quite inspired recently. I've decided that as im officially a SAHM (stay at home mum) i have no excuse not to be creative and makes some things for bub and her room. These days parents don't tend to have the time or necessity to make things like they used to. Well i don't want to be one of those parents. Im also starting to get Harlow's nursery up and running. Up until now it's been a junk storage/office/linen cupboard type room. So my first mission is to get an actual cot. I was intending to splash out on an expensive nursery package but im thinking that my money might be spent and spread elsewhere. I've been perusing through Gumtree and Ebay looking for inspiration.

I've decided on a white cot so it doesn't clash with a timber set of drawers. Save me the hassle of matching timber etc. From there im going to attempt a quilt and some curtains for her room. And if im feeling very adventurous i might attempt some other bits and pieces for her room. One thing at a time obviously. I should also note i am supposed to be studying during this time and at some point i should be going back to work. My car is going to die in the next 12 months i feel so need to have a bit of extra cash so i can upgrade.

So once the nursery is set up i'll transfer all of her baby things out of my room and put my desk etc where her bassinett is.

Also on the agenda is upgrading Harlow's capsule. She's nearly outgrown it and is really uncomfortable in it. I can't go anywhere without her crying the whole way unless she's completely asleep! So tomorrow where off to the hire place to switch up to something else. In a few months the lease will end and i'll need to buy one anyway im just not sure which one. Safe n Sound have recently upgraded a few of their models and introduced a few others. They all look excellent but im betting non of them actually fit in my car! These are the ones i like:

The new Compaq

The new Guardian

and the good old AHR - Adjust and Tilt

I do know that the hire place hire's out the old compaq and the AHR so i was hoping to get one of those to try out in the meantime to give me an idea of what they're like....plus who doesn't like a good old "try before you buy"?

So tomorrow we'll be off to the hire place to see what we can do. Although a lot is weighing on the fact that any of these models will actually fit in my car!

I am also toying with the idea of an organic baby skin care range, but thats all top secret atm so when i actually have something to say i'll be sure to say it here!

good night all

has it really been that long??

Gosh how time has flown by! I swear i fully intended to keep up with my blogging during the crucial first weeks of mummy-hood but honestly i was too darn tired by the time i had time to myself to even focus on writing more than a comment or two on facebook!

Well my gorgeous baby girl is 11 weeks old! The past 11 weeks have been simply amazing, utterly exhausting, terribly trying but everything i expected motherhood to be like. I spent the first month feeling like she wasn't my own baby and he mum would come at any time to want her back. I felt like this beautiful creature was on loan and not mine to keep. After spending so much time dreaming and thinking about being a mum and what my kids would look like, then finally falling pregnant and it becoming a reality, it took me a while to fully come to terms with the fact that i had made her and brought her into this world. I was her mum and she was my daughter. Dont get me wrong i was totally in love, it just all felt so surreal!

She's an absolute gem! We've had our ups and downs but i think im pretty lucky with her. She really is a great baby. She has recently been diagnosed with 'silent reflux' so the last few weeks have been a bit hard for her and i but we're managing to get there and despite being miserable she still manages to crack smiles and giggles at me. We started a new round of medication last week which thankfully seems to be working! My happy little miss is starting to come back. We're still not all the way there though and im sure its going to take some time and possibly a small medication adjustment to get my girl back but its a start and much better than it was before!

Im going away for east to visit some family in WA. My dad and grandparents and younger siblings all live over there and everyone is dying to meet Harlow. My little sister is going to drive down with me to my Dad's place in Denmark, which will be nice as we've never really spent much time together. (she's my half sister and 13 years younger than me). I'm a little nervous about flying with her alone and then the long drive down south but hopefully she behaves herself and we'll be right! yikes!

Anyway if i don't get a chance to post while i'm away i'll definitely pick it up when i'm back!

Happy Easter
